KINE-1306 First Aid
First aid topics include how to assess and act in the event of injuries (including cuts, burns, joint injuries, and temperature-related illnesses). Splinting and bandaging techniques are covered. CPR topics include how to recognize an emergency, caring for conscious and unconscious choking victims, recognizing signs of a heart attack, rescue breathing, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and provides an introduction to Automatic External Defibrillation. American Heart Association certification in CPR and Basic Life Saving (BLS) may be earned. An additional fee will be charged in this course for American Heart Association books and supplies. This course does not replace the physical activities course(s)requirement for the award of the Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, Associate of Applied Science, Associate of General Studies nor the Associate of Applied Science of Applied Technology degrees.
