DAAC-1319 Introduction to Substance Use Disorders

An overview of causes and impacts of substance use disorders, the primary prevention, intervention, and treatment methods utilized, the major drug classifications, and the counselor’s code of ethics. Attention is given to family systems, special populations & diversity, prevention, intervention, & relapse prevention, and legal and professional issues in addiction counseling. An overview of competencies and requirements for licensure in Texas is covered.
