Workforce Education Courses

WECM (Workforce Education Course Manual) courses have been designated by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) as workforce education (technical) courses offered for credit (SCH) and continuing education units (CEUs). The WECM includes a statewide inventory of workforce education courses sharing a common course numbering system with an array of semester credit and contact hour options. These courses are designed to transfer among Texas community colleges. The courses are not designed to automatically transfer to Texas four-year colleges and universities. Courses allow flexibility for colleges in awarding certificates and degrees and in responding to the immediate needs of students, business, and industry. The SCH and CEU courses provide an opportunity for students to obtain skills, knowledge, and behaviors needed for career exploration, entry into the job market, and specific job upgrades.

The THECB approves al courses listed in the WECM for use by Texas public and technical colleges. Students who earn SCHs or CEUs by successfully completing requirements for the course(s) are able to transfer the credits or CEUs to another Texas public community or technical  college offering the same course(s).
