Social Security Number
A student’s Social Security number is required to receive federal financial aid disbursements and an end-of-year 1098-T tax form for reporting tuition payments. If CTC does not receive or cannot confirm a student’s Social Security number, CTC will be unable to provide these services to a student.
In addition, the social security number is important for purposes of matching the identity of a student’s application, transcripts, and other related enrollment information; and to verify enrollment status for loans, deferments, employment, etc.
High school students attending a Texas public high school or Texas charter high school and enrolled in CTC for dual credit are required to submit their social security number and their high school Texas Student Data System Unique ID (TSDS ID). The TSDS ID and SSN are used to determine if student is eligible for the state’s Financial Aid Swift Transfer (FAST) program and for state reporting purposes. For students without a valid SSN, the Alternative ID (AltID) issued to the student by the high school is required in addition to the TSDS ID.
